I hear people saying China will be able to match, or even be a great threat to us in 10-15 years, because their weapon technology is getting better, and they already got us in man-power now. Are we (U.S.A.) doing anything to secure our place as the world power, because you know they're going to be a contender if we leave them alone, or are we leaving them alone?

America has a very odd way of dealing with its Enemies.
You kinda have to look at our global policy like the correlation of a PIMP AND HIS HOES.
I will explain.

America feeds the poor countries. America sends aid and money to poor countries. But, when those countries buck back at us and don't do whatever we tell them to do...America sends in the Marines or economic sanctions. Using such measures is kinda like an economic PIMP SLAP.

In China's case, America and the UK is the only reason why China's economy is growing. If America stopped buying Chinese goods and halted trade using economic sanctions with China, China's economy would collapse and they would NEVER be able to afford the weapons and technology required to feed and equipt either their army or their people.

America does business with China simply because America has more to gain by doing so. American businesses use the Chinese citizens like slaves, paying them crap wages and making them slave for us in jobs that an American would get payed big money for. In the long run, American consumers get cheaper goods and services which helps to drive our economy farther than China's will ever get.

I have lived in China for 2 years and speak Mandarin.
The average Chinese citizen makes less than $8000 a YEAR.
The average Chinese citizen in a rich city lives in apartment buildings with space that make our worst ghetto Projects look like Penthouses.
The vast majority of China is DIRT POOR.
China is a country of 1.5+ Billion people but only 10% of them lives lives equivalent to lower middle class Americans. Less than 2% of them are rich and wealthy. The Upper class.

America is constantly designing new weapons and better technology. If not for Chinese ESPIONAGE, America would not need to worry about Chinese nuclear weapons. The Chinese stole the weapon technology from America - i.e. WIN HO LEE indictment back in the 90's.

America's strategy right now is forcing China to become more and more dependant on the US for income. However, I still personally feel we should not be giving more to them than we are getting because China is well known to be investing more and more money into its Armies and Marines.

I believe that PResident Clinton had a great policy with China but BUSH totally screwed us by placing us in Iraq and causing SKYROCKETING NATIONAL DEBT. The Chinese and Japan buy our debts down and more and more American politicians end up in the pockets of Asian special interests.
Bush is such an idiot, he nearly let the Arabs and COSCO - a chinese shipping company take over our shipping ports.

Chinese espionage is a HUGE problem in American technology sectors. to me it is more dangerous than a few illegal immigrants crossing our boarders. I would treat any such Chinese activities with distrust and suspicion.

Keep in mind, You must seperate the Chinese people from the Communist PRC government. I am anti-PRC gov but I like the people. It is sad that they are at the mercy of such a vile government with so many human rights violations.

TO THOSE PEOPLE THAT THINK CHINA IS NOT A THREAT BECAUSE : "America is their best customer"... YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND THEIR MENTALITY.

China is trying to be a World Policeman. They are trying to build warships, aircraft carriers and the type of weapons America so easily flaunts. Once they have that kind of technological sophistication and troop deployment capabilities, they will force themselves on Islands of the Pacific to EXPAND THEIR TERRITORY, starting with Taiwan. You cannot trust an enemy who has the same abilities you do. What bothers me is America's GREED buying chinese products is making it possible for China's military to grow.
I'd treat any enemy of my country with utter disrespect. I wouldn't give China enough resources to feed their military more than a half pint of chicken fried rice....PER MONTH.

BTW - I think STOCKPICKER2010's ANSWER is STUPID and obviously ignorant.

No, we have very little to fear from the Chinese. I mean, if they are so smart, how come they never invented a fork? Why do all their names sound the same? When was the last time you saw an even halfway decent Chinese movie? K. But, let's look beyond silly stereotypes and focus on the real questions at hand, shall we?

The Chinese have like three billion people. Their population is getting very old very fast. In order for their economy to be able to sustain this many old people, it would have to grow at a ten percent clip year-over-year. That's a lot of rice. I don't see that they can do it, for a number of reasons...
commodity (like steel...) prices are getting out of control
they have a state-run and very inefficient government bureacracy
corruption in the government is everywhere
they use their little kids as slave labor
and they put some of their best workers in labor camps because they disagree with the government.

Second, they have to catch up to American technology by at least twenty years to even come close to threatening us...and as I said about the fork...

Third, there is a burgeoning middle class in China that is beginning to expect better and better things from their society than they are getting now. But they have to pay for the old people. Can't have it both ways and there will be a lot of resentment both ways on that issue.

And fourth (out of the three thousand reasons...but not to bore you...), the Chinese government is spending entirely too much money on getting Beijing ready for the Olympics. They are loaning money like it is going out of style. It is believed that the Chinese have already loaned all the money they have for this year already and it is only halfway over! Not only that, but it is also believed that many many of these loans were bad loans (see corrupt government...) and that these outstanding loans- that may never ever be paid back- will cost the Chinese one TRILLION dollars. That's Trillion with a T. They don't have that much money. Not even close.
So, basically, the Chinese are screwed either way you look at it. My only fear with them is that if they start to get desperate- and they will- they will start to do desperate things.

China has no interest in posing a Military threat. The threat is China as a cheap Global Market, capable of consolidating the whole Asian Market and dictating the language, culture and ethics of international economics!

What makes that a more serious problem is that this country under Republican leadership has dumbed down and largely abandoned these aspects of society and thus has allowed the marketplace to dictate these.

Its an extremely trickly question. in the final Korean warfare China did despatched troops then the North Korean forces there pushed back to the Korean-chinese language Boarder. They did this via fact they certainly did no longer choose u . s . a . forces on there doorstep. yet considering then the worldwide has replaced. notwithstanding there's a ceasefire on the 2d, which would be broken legally via the two area that isn't likely to take place except some thing undesirable happens. The chinese language are greater of a political best chum than a militia, if warfare did smash out back they're greater possibly to deliver militia components and help. If issues have been given to the factor of there the u . s . a . forces the place slightly to close for convenience then would possibly think of approximately that to do next. The anti-Korean sediment you communicate of possibly via a back lash of the Olympic protests in South Korea, in maximum circumstances the South Korean protesters there no longer protesting approximately concerning to the riots in Tibet yet concerning to the certainty that China has a habit of sending if North Korean reguees (sp) caught in China back abode there they'd be positioned to dying or put in labour camps. additionally element is that various the pro-China pupil protesters have been deported from South Korea via launching actual assaults against South Korea human beings. I certainly have seen video clips there a mob assaults a individual in a hotel and yet another there an previous guy is attacked. even nonetheless the percentages of the typical individual in China isn't likely to examine this sort of stuff.

1. No, 1 in population (India may overtake China in a few years)

2. Economy is growing at a faster rate.

3. Has large military power and nuclear capabilities.

Are these not sufficient to become World No. 1, overtaking the big brother and self appointed policeman namely US.
China is not India, which can be easily manouvered, by supporting Pak.

The future lies in living in harmony with other countries.
China is already a super power. The USA is going to be sandwiched between China and India in another 30-40 years in terms of economy. The USA, today is trying to ally with other future power-houses like India and Brazil, to avoid a China dominant future.

It was either Lenin or Stalin that said: when I hang the last capitalist I will buy the rope from the 2nd one.

Since Chinese are not caucasian they will always be considered a THREAT.

Go there and you will find them extremely friendly and nationalistic.

But, they to have had their share of burden in the last 80 years.

The Boxer war, fought because they would not buy opium from the English for the going price.

Most all former colonies have an axe to grind!

The biggest threat to this country is that we are fat, lazy and complacent. Countries like China, India and others are hungry, nuts and pissed off that they have been held down for so long. Each day more and more countries around the globe want to give us a royal as* f*ucking.

Good thing Captain F*ucknut has us wrapped up in Iraq for the next 10 years.

Due to the huge deficits that the US is running up (as a result of the our government's policies--the Iraq war, domestic spending, and tax cuts etc.), our government is reliant on foreign powers to soak up the national debt. And one of the biggest holders of American debt happens to be China.

So the US government can't do awfully much to upset China or China will upset the US economy and throw out our government. It is like if you have a huge mortgage on your house, you have to do what the band tells you to do, or you may wind up losing your house.

I heard the other day on the radio that we owe China a lot of money, and that weakens us, right there. I work for a Chinese energy company, and it's a good question. I'm not sure if I'm anywhere near to having an answer, though.

China is not the threat people try to make it. It is too dependant on American consumers, and American food and coal to do a damn thing. One year of no American resources, and China is screwed.

That being said, they will act against Tiawan if they can get away with it.
