It always seems like this question is always dodged by pro-immigration (illegal immigration, that is) activists. I have yet to hear a sensible response to this question.

It isn't inhumane. Mexican citizens die every week trying to cross the Rio Grande and the Sonoran desert. It would be more humane to put a stop to it.

It isn't racist. The USA is a sovereign nation like any other sovereign nation. We have the right to police our borders the same as any other nation.

I don't think it is inhumane or racist, but a fence wouldn't be effective, and it would not save us money to use the national guard. After all we want to close our borders because immigrants are taking money away from local people, and the total effect on the economy. The last time I saw something like this in a state proposition the cost of it was rediculously high, and it seemed to me we would be paying more to increase border security but getting little out of it in return.

It isn't. People in this country like to use those terms for the sensationalism of it and also because whites in this country are terrified of being labeled a racist. Think of it this way if they said "if you put a fence up and deploy the guard to the border it would work and make it harder for migrant workers to come here illegally to help feed their families back home". I think you can see how that doesn't help their cause.

Well, lets see, they've been coming over, what? 250-300 years and no ones said squat until the Christian, neo-nazi right had a fit, suddenly all the republican'ts are shouting about "open borders" that have been OPEN YOUR ENTIRE LIFE! and no one gave a sh1t about before???? So we can PLAINLY see its all a POLITICAL FARCE. Period.

So, FOR NO BETTER REASON THAN TO GET MORE VOTES, American soldiers are being pulled away from their jobs and families just so a few rat-turds can feel happy that someone won't be able to pay for medicine for their child! Woot, that sure makes YOU happy! Congratulations!

They may be thinking of it like as a dog has to be kept inside a fence. Or they may think that Americans would be saying they don't want Mexican people into their country. I don't think it's either. I think we need to put something up because one of these days something bad will happen and it'll be 9/11 all over again. Only in Texas.

~*~ It is not inhumane or racist.. but, if they are going to close off the border, it needs to be the border to the north and the border to the south.. illegals are crossing at both places.. The focus is more on the mexican border but the focus needs to be on all borders.. ~*~

it's not. securing borders is a fundamental prerogative of a sovereign nation.

one might wonder why we're only looking at "securing" our southern border. but that's rather easy: our northern border is already relatively secure. it just so happens that different levels of protection are needed to make different borders have the same level of security.

It's not. Democrats are just using that as an excuse to get more illegal immigrants into this country so they can give them welfare in exchange for votes.

The Hispanic Caucus won't be able to swell their ranks with instant Officially Oppressed Minorities.

It's not. We need to protect our borders. We need to screen those who are coming into our country to make sure that they are the kinds of people we want living here.
