Sometimes it takes a while for it to become "regular".. You should see a doctor though to be sure everything is ok.

Your ovaries are either not releasing an egg-not ovulating- or are only doing this every once in a while. It would be a good idea to have a visit with a gynecologist (a woman's doctor). She will check that everything is working as it should be. Until then, write your periods and any wierd sensations down on a calendar so you can bring it in to her. If your family does not have insurance for the visit, you can still go to a public health department clinic or to a group such as planned parenthood. Make sure you tell the receptionist when you make the appointment, that you want to see someone who is very good with young women, and women who have never seen a woman's doctor before.

There are lots of things that can affect your periods. You could have a hormone imbalance or some underlying genetic disorder but more than likely you're normal. It takes most girls a year or so to establish regular cycles but there are some who take longer. I'd suggest that you find a gynecologist to check you out. You need to have some blood work done to be sure that your thyroid is OK,check hormone levels and check for diabetes. There may be other tests you'll need depending on your particular situation. If you're not sure who to see, talk to friends or your mom to find someone that they are comfortable with and think you'd like. You're probably fine but there are things that could cause problems later that should be treated now. Good luck

This doesn't sound normal. Although you're still young and your periods may be irregular, what's going on with you seems to be extremely weird. Go see a doctor. They can tell you what's going on.
