HI. If you can't move your finger, probably is broken. Go to Emergency room to take an X ray. The ice pack help very much if it isn't broken, but if so... don't help so much. Try to immobilize your finger. Good Luck.

been there done that. same finger. nothing you can do for a broken finger except splint it straight. if you have blood under the nail use a small drill bit and drill a small hole in the nail to relieve the pressure. i know it sounds gross but it does work. it doesn't hurt either. it is a big relief.

lack of mobility not due to the pain. Sever discoloration and swelling.
You shoud go have it checked out before 24 hours has passed.
After that the bones start knitting back together and it hurts much much worse when being set.

You'll know by morning. I did the same thing 25 years ago and lost a nail over it. The fingernail still doesn't grow in right to this day. Good luck.

probably broken. you'll know when you get an xray!

Swelling is a big indicator of broken bones. you need to see a doctor asap, or else the bone will start to heal wrong and he'll have to rebreak it and set it all over again!

Ok, that happened to me once, only it was my thumb. It bled and then was purple for awhile. I kept it bandaged, and prayed. You can pray, and or go to a walk in clinic to have it checked. But you know the one bible verse that helped me the most, was I think it was in jeremiah?) "I will heal you of your wounds". Think about it, not literally, but spritually. Then just stop thinking about the incident and the seeming result. Keep praying. It will heal. It did for me!

if the finger is not straight, you need to see a doctor to allign it. otherwise- the only thing you can do is put it in a small splint. even if it is broken- the doctor will just splint it. so- no need for doctor unless it looks really crooked.

i did that before, it really hurt. i just iced it all day pretty much and it was fine. if it doesnt get better after icing it then go to your family doctor, see what he/she says, and if needed go to the hospital for an x-ray. but definately go to a family doctor first. hope it gets better!
