It's somewhat effective but not as effective as a regular anti-acne medication. The best way to keep clean skin is wash your face regularly, and then use some sort of anti-acne medication if you ever have a breakout. Personally I use stridex pads any time my face seems unusually greasy. The downside is it makes your skin very dry.

Dove soap would not be good for acne prone skin because it has fragrance and is hard to rinse thoroughly. I would try Pure&Natural and make sure whatever you use has no fragrance, because it is irritating. After washing your face use witch hazel on a cotton ball as an astringent to clean off any residue of dirt or soap that didn't rinse off. Believe it or not white toothpaste (example: Colgate) is great on trouble spots because it dries them out without being harsh. You can even put a little toothpaste on the palm of your hand and add a little water and put it over your entire face before going to bed. This worked for me when I was a teenager and also for my kids. Good luck!

Bar soap that works good for acne: Dial, Neutrogena, and Coast (a dermatologist recommended it). Dove is good, but probably not to clear your skin.

No, it's too creamy and will clog your pores. Try Clearasil.
