I don't think our current policies are correct and I don't think they were put in place by a clear thinkers either.

I think what needs to happen is we all need to sit down and work together as a world community - and the disenfranchised in the middle east and each nation need to be treated respectfully, not like children that can be bossed around. Americans need to realize that there is a lot of similarities between the Arab nations really taking control of their destinies and becoming global participants and America's own struggle to go from colonies to a large and powerful nation.

However, there's the rub. Those who understand this, maybe don't want the arab nations to become a power unto themselves...and I think that stinks, because I think it is at this point where they say "and use up our oil" or "and will charge us too much for oil". That's the truly nauseating part. That the oil and greed mean more than the chance those people could have to advance and find a measure of security in a world without constant violence and destruction.

Peace! please...

"Right" and "Wrong" are useless terms unless you're sure you're talking to someone with the same cultural-symbolic system as your own.

America's (and Britain's) Iraq War is about Oil and Israel which means it's supported by the two most powerful factions in the Anglo world, the WASP aristocracy whose financial base is oil and the Zionists whose financial base is banking and media. These two factions have alternately fought and done business together for centuries, but in the past 20 years they have become close allies.

Things changed because the oil is running out which means to preserve their wealth the oilmen need more control over the remaining oil. Doing deals with the sheiks is no longer enough; now they need real control. To get "Real Control" they need to beat down the natives, which puts them on the same page as the Zionists who have been at war with the same natives ever since the founding of Israel.

Incidentally, the fact that that the two great power blocs of the Anglosphere are now solidly in bed together is why there is so little difference between the main political parties, not only in the US, but in Oz and the UK as well. The fact they used to be enemies is why all the Anglo countries have two-party systems to begin with.....

The current administration obviously does not have a good understanding of the people of the Middle East.

I think the fact that there is oil in Iraq made it easier for the neocons in the Bush administration to fool themselves into planning the Iraq invasion. They planned to pay for the reconstruction by having the Iraqi's sell shares of their oil fields on the open market(Halliburton) and use the money to rebuild their electric, water and other infrastructure(Halliburton).

The plan to invade Iraq and depose Saddam Hussein was brought into office with the Bush presidency by the members of his cabinet who also served in his fathers presidency during the Gulf war(Cheney, Wolfowitz,Pearle). Bush Sr. balked at invading Iraq, and they have been waiting to rectify that "mistake" ever since. They used 9/11 to push the American people into backing the Iraq invasion by falsely linking it to 9/11. There are still a significant percentage (10-15%) of Americans who believe there was a link and live WMD existed.

The real reason behind the invasion was to relieve the pressure on the Saud Royal family and take the military base out of Saudi Arabia (done) and replace it with a base in Iraq that the grateful Iraqi people would allow us to build - (not going so well). America feels the need to have a base in the region to prevent any other country from disrupting the flow of oil.

its mostly oil, the gasoline engine has been obsolete for years, but they are still doing the oil thing because of the money involved. there is a reason why they hate us, we should be involved in nothing pertaining to the middle east except for the fact that the revenue from oil keeps the wealthy the way they are. theres been alternative sources of energy for years, but they are fighting it all the way. i used to work in a place that manufactured windmill blades for the wind energy business, they told us that a vote for bush would delay anything we were trying to do and they were right.. the politicians dont care about anything but what will help themselves.

The American policy is not right. Then again...look how we got the US...... The US is not out to help anyone...if they were they would first take care of their own. It's an OIL and POWER thing. Plus, Bush is a war president with a daddy complex.

I challenge any person in this country to go to a soldier who has been to Iraq or Afghanistan and tell them what they did was for oil. I was in Kuwait in 1998, and I remember the Kuwaiti people thanking us still for what we had done in the first Gulf War. My brother was in Iraqi Freedom, and one of his missions was to fly school supplies and medical supplies into cities so that children could go to school. I have video of it. Go up to him and tell him what he did was for oil. This oil argument is nothing more than an attack to make a good and just thing look bad. I have numerous friends as well as family in Iraq, and not one of them opposes what we are doing, they have told me that we are doing good things over there. Instead of eating what the media feeds you, talk to a soldier, write a soldier a letter, find out the truth. If we are there for oil, why are we trying to help educate the children? If all we want is more oil, and thats what we are fighting for why are we trying to help establish bank systems? Hospitals? INfrastructure like power plants and water treatment facilities? If we are fighting for oil why don't we go on a massive extermination spree and kill off massive ammounts of people instead of constantly trying to help them. Think for yourselves people. Talk to people who know, people who have been there. ANd if you still think it is for oil, I encourage to go up to a military person and tell them how you feel. Why do it from the safety of your own home, go out and tell the how you feel, stand by your beliefs.
