THIS HAPPENS BECAUSE THEY ARE MOST LIKELY UPSET DUE TO THE PAIN OF TEETHING AND BEING THAT UPSET YOU CONTRACT YOUR TUMMY TO CRY. WHICH SQUEEZES OTHER PARTS. WHEN YOUR TUMMY IS UPSET YOUR REAR END IS TOO. its LIKE A GROWN ADULT WITH THE FLU!

KINDA CHEESY BUT THAT RHYMED

I really don't know why but my daughter gets it every time she's teething too. I feel so bad for her. You don't need to take your baby to the doctor unless the diarrhea is constant and your baby shows some other sign of an illness such as not eating, lethargic, etc.

I think it may be because they tend to get a low grade fever, which can be dehydrating, causing diarrhea. I do not think this is an old wives tale. It happens every time my son gets a tooth and then he is all better. Good Luck!

I have read some unconfirmed articles that say this occurs because the baby is swallowing an increased amount of saliva and mucous due to the increased production (drooling) when they are teething, but who really knows!

I've read that while teething, babies create excess saliva. this saliva then causes diarrhea while teething. HTH!

I never heard of a baby getting diarrhea cause of teething. did you change the diet? Is your baby upset somehow? I would call my pediatrician.

Diarrhea? That's an old-wives tale...take him or her to the doctor it could be a gastroinstestinal problem, not teething.

this issue has no clear answer. you might want to call your pediatrician to have the baby checked, just to be safe:
