It’s a drug, need I say more? Well I will anyway... Hydrocodone is a very very addictive drug, and is hard to get off of once addicted (trust me, I know, I started using it when I got my wisdom teeth out, and still use it 3 years later). If you're not careful, you could become addicted, and so could your baby. Would you really want to take a chance when it comes to your baby? Your pain will go away; an addicted baby won’t be able to stand the pain of withdrawals. Go with your motherly instincts. Put your baby first. You questioned whether this drug would hurt your baby, so that must be an indicator. Don’t ignore it. If you have to ask if something is dangerous, it most likely is.

Pregnancy

Teratogenic Effects: Pregnancy Category C: There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. Hydrocodone bitartrate and acetaminophen tablets should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus. Nonteratogenic Effects: Babies born to mothers who have been taking opioids regularly prior to delivery will be physically dependent. The withdrawal signs include irritability and excessive crying, tremors, hyperactive reflexes, increased respiratory rate, increased stools, sneezing, yawning, vomiting, and fever. The intensity of the syndrome does not always correlate with the duration of maternal opioid use or dose. There is no consensus on the best method of managing withdrawal.

If you have a genetic predisposition to addiction, or if you are a recovering addict or alcoholic, the hydrocodone could cause your disease to become active. If your baby tests positively at birth, child protective services will take your child.

It could cause withdrawl for the baby if you use to much. Studies haven't really been done. I took it after delivery and breastfed mine it just seemed to make him sleepier. Just in case take regular old tylenol instead.

Check with your doctor, but your dentist probably wouldnt' prescribe something harmful if he knew that you were pregnant.
