First of all, a football isn't round. That, my friend, is known as a basketball. A football is not really oval but a mixture of an oval and a circle. Maybe you should know what you are talking about before you post on here.

rugby was there first. the english upper class like rugby but thought it made them dirty by using hands, so they thought that using just foot might be a good idea. so to be able to kick by foot, the ball must be round. thus...the end result...ball for football is round..

That's a really good question, and i think it would be very interesting to see a rugby ball in football.

just think what the game would be like if the ball were triangular? or worse yet, imagine now that the ball were SQUARE! what then?? it would be called "boxball" or "cubeball" or something. how would it feel to hit a square ball with your head?!

All balls are round like basketball,volleyball etc.It is round that is why it freely moves.
