Mostly my left. Unless the parrot preferred my right.
I think that the parrot would be the chooser of his own perch, because my parrot would also be a pirate, and they like their freedom.

I am a pirate and the only parrot I ever had -s-h-i-t- on the deck all day and talked nonsense all night. We ate it for dinner over a small bottle of "the Captain" while we were camped out on one of the deserted islands in the south Pacific. Times were hard.

parrot & pirate ? they don't go together at all. infact it was my ambition to become a pirate. but i did not like the idea of this parrot . then i thought of an eagle or a vulture. or an owl.these birds will give a sort of great feeling. but i had to ditch the idea of becoming a pirate because i am dead scared of all these birds. so, now i am sitting here answering your question instead of pirating.

I like parrots, but I see me as the type to have a large feline, I believe they have always been my familars, in all of my lives. More than likely it would be a Black Panther and she/he would hang with me wherever I went.

I love pirates! but not all pirates need to have a bird on their shoulder. Ex: Captain Jack Sparrow, no bird! but still 100% pirate.

Left; it would free up my sword-arm (being my right arm) for fighting, and would also put the bird out of harm's way during said fighting. If I have a bird that could talk, I would want to make sure it didn't die.

Why a parrot?
I want a tiger.
He'd be on my foot.
Most likely my right.

I would teach it to perch on a cane that I held, to prevent bird feces from decorating my clothing.
I would also teach it to say "hello, how are you?" when approached by people. If the answer was "fine", I would teach it to fly upon the answer's left shoulder, and say, "tell the truth, how are you really?"
