it doesn't matter that the laptop will be bought at WalMart. You have to decide on the brand you will buy from there (eg. Compaq, Gateway, HP, etc.)
Most computers that they sell will have a warranty from the manufacturer, so even if there were a problem, you would be able to get it fixed for free.
walmart is actually a good option because they discount their prices a little bit.

Wal-Mart sells computers like anyone else. Know what you are buying and know their return policy. The computer at Walmart can be the same computer at Best Buy.

Wal mart sells for less, all computers are made cheap especially laptops just buy a cooler for it to keep it from burning up www.nexfan.com

The nature of computer hardware: it can last 10 years or it can arrive DOA--no matter what company you get it from. Chances are better going with a reputable company, but I've seen "bargain bin" hardware last longer than name-brand. That is universal. Keep it in mind.

I don't know about their Laptops, but I bought a printer once, and it didn't work, then got a replacement and it had been used. My rule, don't buy computer parts, etc from Walmart - they just might repackage them and put them back out on the sales floor.

Well-It depends....I only go with Dell or HP and I think Wal-Mart carries HP...that would be my choice if I was you. Good Luck

Don't get it at Wal-mart. Get it from one of the following places:
http://cyberpowersystem.com
http://dell.com (god forbid if worse comes to worst...)
http://hp.com
http://emachine.com
http://newegg.com
http://tigerdirect.com
If you get from these places, you get better deals, cheaper part/computers, and warrentees.

Probably. I bought my desktop at WalMart 5 years ago and it still works perfectly.
