When I was a child, I was the unofficial "exterminator" for the farm I lived on. I shot hundreds of squirrels and jackrabbits. According to the Old Testament, man can slaughter all the animals on earth except for other humans, so Christians need not respond. What do the rest of you think?

BOOK OF MOSES
CHAPTER 2
God, said: Let them have dominion over the fishes of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
DOMINION! Like I said; no Christians needed.

Karma is exactly what you make it. If you choose to feel guilty over your actions, then you're creating your own hell, and building your own karma. Karma is about stepping into your fears to face them, and finding that they evaporate as soon as you face them. If you're asking about retribution for having killed animals to protect your crops, retribution is not the same thing as karma. A friend of mine used to shoot squirrels as a kid, and now he feels guilty about it, so he feeds all the wildlife in sight.

Live your life today in an authentic way, release the past, and respect all life as part of earth's balance. Your karma will then take care of itself (in a good way).

I personally think that killing anything is wrong - but clearly I am in the minority when you consider the NRA and all the military activity in our world. I think all life is sacred and should be respected.

Having said that, I don't think that life is here to punish you - and I think that you were likely performing a helpful service by getting rid of varmints that might eat all the crops. I think you need to decide for yourself if you have done something wrong - and if you decide you have there are ways to atone. Volunteer at an animal shelter, take in a stray animal or 2, leave cat food on your porch at night. The powers that be can see right into your heart and if you were malicious about it, you might have somethings to learn or overcome. If not, you are probably doing just fine.

Peace!

You're fine. The whole concept of Karma is to learn how to become a better person. The lesson is spread across several lifetimes, so sometimes past lives' errors must be atoned for in this lifetime. This means you suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous furtune and feel you don't deserve it, but maybe you earned it in a past life. So this life is the opportunity to correct.

As for the small game, they were a threat to the farm, so it was quite within your biblical jurisdiction to keep their numbers down. Did not King David, while a young shepherd, kill the wolves, etc who were a threat to the flock? My own subjective feeling about killing animals is that to keep the karma slate clean, if you kill it, you had better eat it.

Perhaps you need to reread the old testament for nowhere or anywhere does God give man permission to "slaughter" all the animals he wants but only those he needs for food and sacrifice and God is very, very specific in the manner(how)this should be one. Nowhere is anyone given the right to kill anything for fun.Karma does not exist but Consequences do. You must be worried for otherwise you wouldn't be asking concerning this. Does it bother you now what you did.Have you stopped-I hope so for your sake. Nowhere does God condone cruelty-I'm sure since you killed so many-were they always dead right way or did they suffer, were there young waiting on them and starved which is a horrible way to die for animal and human. If you caused suffering then you'll be held responsible. You can ask God to forgive you but you must also to be really really sorry for Him to forgive you. Perhaps you should also hope, pray that we either go to heaven or to hell as he Protestants believe, for then you can do good works, support the Humane Society and so to make up for it and that there isn't a Purgatory-a place o suffering for all we did to cleanse sin away before we can enter heaven,as the Catholics believe. The more you do the more you suffer. Pray and do good works and do not hurt anymore animals.
By asking the question you also then must now believe its wrong-as a child perhaps you didn't know and can't be held accountable but now you can.

I think Traingirl has kind of got it sussed! I practice the Buddhism of Nichiren Daishonin and have had quite a few studys on cause and effect. What you did is a bad cause, but you are always able to change your karma. Please check out the website mate and click on Buddhism. This is not a specific religion, we don't pray to a God, it is all about making ourselves fundamentally happy! And the best thing? You can try it for a few months and if nothing changes, you can stop. There are no rules!

Go for it!

I am a HINDU and I believe in Karma.I donot think that u shd be worried at all , u were then just a child. Moreover the great HINDU saint shri shri RAMKRISHNA Paramahansa has said that paap(sin) and punya(opposite of sin) are all creations of the mind meaning that they are relative.but that doesnot mean u go on a killing spree

all christians don't believe in slaughter of innocent animals i believe its alright if it is completly necesary for survival. now if you enjoyed killing these animals without it being necesary for your farm to survive then remember Karma can be a ***** or your best friend, so what you do will come back, but the good thing about karma is it can change, if you change

I think that you have some issues, perhaps you're a serial killer.

I would seek some counselling, before this escalates.

Otherwise, yes, at some point when you are very very old, your sleep or play will be disturbed by an army of undead and unforgiving small furry things who will smother you with their cuteness.

Yes, even undead and half rotten, they will still be cute. Though sorta stinky....

You will die screaming.

you could always start some kind of animal shelter or something to reduce your personal debt, if you feel that you should. join an animal rights group, or just feed the ducks in the park, do you like animals now?, I think you would have to actualy like them, in order to reduce your karmic debt.
