"I am Dariush, the great king, the king of kings
The king of many countries and many people
The king of this expansive land,
The son of Wishtaspa of Achaemenid,
Persian, the son of a Persian,
'Aryan', from the Aryan race"
"From the Darius the Great's Inscription in Naqshe-e-Rostam"

he above scripture is one of most valid written evidences of the history of the Aryan race, and as can be seen, Darius I (Dariush in persian), the Achaemenian king, in the 5th century BCE, declares himself a Persian and form the Aryan race. Herodotus, the father of history, writes (in his book: "History of Herodotus") at the same times: "In ancient times, the Greeks called Iranians "Kaffe", but they were renowned as Aryans among themselves and their neighbors". In another part of his book, Herodotus writes that the Medians were known as Aryans during a certain period. So in two of the oldest written human documents, the race of the Iranians have been mentioned as Aryan.

On the other hand, in many contemporary books, one reads that the Aryans were not original residents of the land of Iran, and that they migrated to Iran from Central Asia or somewhere in the north of Europe. The point is that if some of the oldest written records of the human history confirm that the residents of the Iranian Plateau were Aryans, why should some claim otherwise?
The Germans, eyeing vast expanses of land in Central Asia, called themselves Aryans and cried for a return to the homeland. They used the Swastika, which, as a "wheel of Mithra (Sun/Fire)" used to be the arm of the Iranians since ancient times, as a Nazi symbol, to have an alibi to invade Russia.

The French, British, Russians and recently Americans found different reasons to call themselves Aryans.

aryans are actually the iranians.. migrated towards india... they are not the natives of indus civilization!! they are the natives of iranian civilization

The "Aryan race" is a concept in European culture that was influential in the period of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. It derives from the idea that speakers of the Indo-European languages constitute a distinctive "race". In its most notorious incarnation, under Nazism, it was argued that the earliest Aryans were identical to Nordic peoples. Belief in the superiority of the "Aryan race" is sometimes referred to as Aryanism. This should not be confused with the unrelated Christian religious belief known as Arianism.

The word arya first appears in the ancient sacred texts of Hinduism (the Rigveda) and Zoroastrianism (Gathas). The Indian and Iranian terms are directly derived from Proto-Indo-Iranian *arya-, a self-designation of the Proto-Indo-Iranians. The term is also continued in Old Persian inscriptions and other Persian sources from c. 500 BCE onwards, the word Iran (lit. "Land of the Aryans") itself being derived from it (See Airyanem Vaejah). India is also referred to as Aryavarta, which means "Abode of the Aryans". Modern Iranian Persians and speakers of Persian dialects in Iran (70%) ethnicity and stock are "Aryan", and in historical Hinduism, the Sanskrit term took on a spiritual meaning of "noble".

Since, in the 19th century, the Indo-Iranians were the most ancient known speakers of "Indo-European" languages, the word Aryan was adopted to refer not only to the Indo-Iranian people, but also to Indo-European speakers as a whole, including the Romans, Greeks, the Germans, Balts, Celts and Slavs. It was argued that all of these languages originated from a common root - now known as Proto-Indo-European - spoken by an ancient people who must have been the ancestors of the European, Iranian, and Indo-Aryan peoples. The ethnic group composed of the Proto-Indo Europeans and their modern descendants was termed the Aryans. This usage was common in the late 19th and early 20th century. An example of an influential best-selling book, still widely read, that reflects this usage is the 1920 book The Outline of History by H.G. Wells. It should be noted that this usage is now regarded by most people as obsolete (it is still seen occasionally).[citation needed] In today's English, "Aryan", if used at all, is normally synonymous to Indo-Iranian, or in particular Proto-Indo-Iranian.

The idea that the north Europeans were the "purest" of these people was later propagated most assiduously by the Comte de Gobineau and by other writers, most notably his disciple Houston Stewart Chamberlain, who wrote of an "Aryan race" – those who spoke Indo-European languages and were claimed to be the "noblest" of people.
