bleaching effect of sun and water

Your bathing suit is reacting to either sunlight or chlorine, depending on whether you spend your time at a beach or in an indoor pool. Both of these agents will bleach the colour out of fabric, and there's no way to prevent it. You can delay fading in the pool suit, by rinsing it in cold water as soon as you take it off, but it will eventually fade too.
There's nothing you can do about the sunshine, except enjoy it and get a new bathing suit next year.

Well, it probably wouldn't if you left in your closet and just took it out
occasionally to admire.

However, you are probably committing the rookie mistake of actually
wearing it - probably even into the water.

Chlorinated (pool) water is very harmful to clothing (and skin and hair and...)
so if you want to keep them longer, you must rinse them out with
chlorinated water immediately.

Chlorine is essentially bleaching the dyes out of the suit.

They should last longer with lake water - salt won't be great for them -
but chlorine is the worst.

And of course, that blasted sun is EVERYWHERE. It will also cause
colors to fade. Blast that infernal ball of light!

Put that sucker back in the closet. Nope, don't open it. Just let it sit
there, knowing how good it must look. In the dark. On the hanger.

Just as its designer intended it.

Its caused by chlorine and the sun like everyone else said.
If you rinse it in cold water before you let your suit dry, hopefully you can take the chlorine out somewhat, and then obviously don't set it in the sun to dry.

There is also some detergents that have some type of anti-color fade action going on, but I don't know if they actually work.

When you swim you get in the sun. The sun makes colors fade beacuse of the bright lite. There is bleach in the pool. Which mkes things turn white so that means you have two things trying to make your suit fade. That is why you have a fading swimsuit.

Swimming pools are full of chlorine. Chlorine = bleach. Don't let it dry with swimming pool water, rinse it with plain water as soon as you can. Wash it in woolite or other gentle detergent as soon as possible.

The sun will bleach it as well, but there's not much you can do about that other than stay out of the sun.

the chlorine in the water and the sun (especially together) makes it lose it's color. and there's not really anyway to prevent it...unless u just don't swim in a pool in the sun and wash it before u wear it in the sun. even still, it's gonna lose it's color at least a little

it the effects of chlorine most likely because i used to get that too. the best way to prevent that is to rinse your swim suit in warm water when you are done with it then let it hang dry and try not to put it in the dryer. hope that helps!

Because it is Cheap! It uses cheap dye. Dont go to the hottub too much. It fades because the chlorine. It bleaches it. And immediately rinse it after use. Or go get an expensive one. -What i do is just get a cute cheap one and when it fades, get a new one! It gives you an exuse to shop!

Bikinis, my favorite subject!

Sun, salt water and cholorine are all deadly to you suits.

Wash them out as soon as possible and hang to dry.

If you are gonna look good, gotta get Daddy to buy you at least four or five good suits every season.

It's a combination of the chlorine, the sun, and the amount of times you wash it. Always hang it dry if you don't already do that, otherwise I don't know much else that can be done about it.
