I get into a cleaning mode heavy duty so that kitchen, bathroom, floors are clean and sheets are clean and stuff put away -- am going to try and only do a little this time so I'm not all tuckered out when I leave...

Same reason I do, I want to enjoy coming home. I also tidy a bit before my weekly housekeeper comes. Just some of the clutter so she can clean all the surfaces, but it irritates my husband.

I get into this same mode before I go on vacation also. The reason I do this is usally I go on vacation for the weekend, and I know I will be tired from the trip when I get home. After vacation I do not want to do anything, but rest up. If my house is clean and clothes are washed, then i can just REST!

I always do! Because when you come back, you're depressed enough about your vacation being over and having to go back to work. And then you have all the unpacking and dirty laundry from the trip. And you're tired from travelling. The LAST thing you want to have to do is worry about cleaning the house. And coming home to a clean house makes you a little more glad to be home. Does me anyway.

Well yes..I do this because I want to come home from a vacation and walk into a cleaned house. If I walk into a dirty one that needs lots of stuff done...then it would be a real downer and the good vacation feeling would be lost.

I like coming home to a clean home. Tuckered out type of cleaning before leaving... sounds like a little anxiety is mixed in there. Couldn't suggest what type, but ya might check in with your subconscious about it.

It is always nice to come home to a clean house. It may also be that cleaning before you leave will ease your mind and you won't feel guilty while on vacation about leaving a dirty house.

I always clean my house before I go away. Partly, to return to a clean organized house, and to be able to just put everything I returned with in its place without hassle. Returning to a clean house is a pleasure, there isn't anything to do except relax a moment more.

so when you come home, you do not have to work hard, all you do is rest, sleep, take time to recuperate for your jet lag and enjoy the remaining days before going back to daily routine.
cause you need to adjust yourself to your regular duty without worrying about cleaning. plus clean house will make you at ease, comfortable while away, and easy to check if someone been in your house. but before that, it is easy to concentrate for your vacation, you don't want to miss anything you need to bring..

I have to. When you are about to be home after vacation most of the time you are looking forward to just vegging. I like to walk into my place and instantly feel good about it and not have to worry about all the things I need to clean up.
