Why don't you go live in a tee pee in the middle of the woods, hunt your own food and try to survive, then come back and answer your own question.

I feel it is harder and more complicated. There used to be a day where we had no computers or cell phones. A day when everybody had one regular phone in the house only and sometimes it was a party line shared with another household. We were able to sit on our porch all night if we wanted without fear. Kids were not approached by adults for sick purposes. The highlight of our summer was roller skating. Someone having a pool was unheard of and thought to be very, very rich. Life used to be a whole lot simpler and I feel sorry for the kids today not knowing what that was like, because it was fantastic.

Its making things harder. Since 1985 the number of people who believe that they have it even one person that they could call in the middle on a night to help them solve a problem has gone steadily downward! People are spending more time at work, and generally report that they feel more isolated than ever before. When computer's first became popular it was said that they were going to eliminate paper... yeah right! Fat chance with that one!

Life today carries sharper political dynamics, complicated by our own hand. We've created organizations that watchdog this and that; organizations that audit workplaces "unbiasedly...with no 'catchback' targeting motives". We've generated paperwork out the wazoo.
And there's my favorite--a legacy left us by Hillary Clinton: POLITICAL CORRECTNESS ( "it takes a village"). We have a name for just about every and any socio-dynamic daily facet of our behavior and lives as people--with no end in sight.
The "battle" of the sexes today has gotten more savvier; more PC (tit for tat).....pretty much amounts to political back biting.
We now have tolerances of one's culture, race and lifestyle....and intolerance of things we feel being rid of such would create a Utopic world; each day this mess grows proves my point that Utopia cannot exist.
And all we've really accomplished is make a larger headache than life years before.

Without hesitation . . . NO!
We have pills to make us better!
We have books, cd players, magazines, television, newspapers, ipods, radios, etc., to entertain us.
We have all the soap and water we want to stay clean.
We have electricity.
We have clean clothes and dishwashers, clothes washers and dryers.
We have garbage disposals, frozen foods, microwaves and free time out the ying yang.
We don't spend 1/2 the day working ourselves dirty and then coming home to crawl under the house to get the food out that was put there 3 months ago to keep it fresh and cool. We don't have to go to the creek to get "fresh" water. We don't have to "heat the water" over a fire to do the dishes, we don't "believe" that taking a bath will wash the "good"off of us (meaning it will give us a cold or lower our immune system by taking too many bathes, hey, most people got sick AFTER getting wet, so they just FIGURED, well . . . ), WE get to go to school instead of going to work, they didn't, on and on . . .

Harder for me.
Maybe because I'm getting older.
And I have all advanced classes in school.
Which is more schoolwork which means less time for friends.
And I also have a job.
Baby sitting 12 preschoolers at a local daycare.
I feel so old, but I'm not.

Of course it seems that way. But we all can make a difference if we try. Lead by example. It's the only solution.
