The most important thing we can ever learn is how to develop ourselves so as to be of maximum benefit to ourselves and others. Ultimately that is by knowing oneself--for deep within each of us field of infinite happiness, love, intelligence, and wisdom. This is the essential nature of human consciousness, and that is why the ancient Greek philosophers urged everyone to "know thyself".

Knowing and appreciating oneself enables one to be more loving and more giving to others. When we truly love our self then we can begin to love the self of everyone. This is how one can grow to love one's neighbor as one's self.

If even a few people were to find out how to do know the self and diligently follow this timeless wisdom, then we would have much less problems and misery in our world. When we create only positive influences for others, then only positive influences will come back to us. To grow towards that ability is the greatest thing that we can do for ourselves and others. This is the most important lesson in life!
