Pointless...define pointless...Is it a term to describe something without a purpose..? Well, perhaps, that "point" was to make someone laugh..or to make someone stop what their doing and yell "WTF?!?!?"....And, perhaps your expertise in these seemingly "pointless" questions will help the asker. They may just be curious of a response to a statement, question, or opinion. Therefore, EVERYTHING has a purpose. You just have to look harder and consider that you may know something that someone else does not. That is what this program was created for, to help others discover and respond to topics and interests that may seem "pointless", but indeed have a purpose.
Good luck---with your investigation on the purpose of human behavior and inquiry. ;)

That's right; some questions are really really dumb. Guess its serves some uncanny purpose for the asker...lol. Wonder how people have the time to ask such questions and more ridiculous is the number of answers people give to those questions. Some smart person on Answers team came up with the idea of "spell check" option, yet most of the questions and answers end up with grave grammatical mistakes.
Well, whatever the reason for asking....the underlying universal force behind every question is the thought to quest for knowledge: both known and unknown, more mindless and pointless, less meaningful & enriching. I frequent Philosophy section, family and relationships, sometimes technical, music and psychology. I am sure to find questions that compel me to answer in these sections.

Well since this is a Philosophy Question I'll answer with a Philosophical Quote
The point of philosophy is to start with something so simple as not to seem worth stating, and to end with something so paradoxical that no one will believe it.
Bertrand Russell (1872 - 1970), The Philosophy of Logical Atomism
Maybe this is their reason. But, maybe not :)

Didn't you get the memo? It is a vast conspiracy designed to annoy you.
Also "pointless" questions are asked to get "pointless" answers.
For fun, because people are bored. I've received some pretty deep answers from the most "pointless" questions and I find that fascinating.

I ask rhetorical questions because it gets people enraged, to bring out their beliefs, to exorcise their hidden hidden reasons.
I've had many tomatoes thrown at me under the supposition that I speak truthfully or seriously. But Much can be communicated by this nonsense, that cuts like a knife against the grain of this stultifying fare of non-hyperbolic, uncritical "honesty".
