It's about the size of a quarter, it's not rough or scaly just a shiny round bald spot. It's like right in the center on the top towards the back where the hair kind of does that swirly thing. I am so freaked out I don't know what to do or what could of caused this it wasn't there last weekend. I don't really know when it showed up I just noticed it today. It doesn't itch or anything and I don't have dandruff. It is a little sensitive in that area though. Please could someone tell me what could be going on?

I don't have any pets and I am not on any birth control pills. Baldness runs in my Dad's side of the family but he was not bald. My mom said that maybe I could have a thyroid problem.

It could be ringworm. I had a coworker with the same symptoms.

Do you wear hats? It could be from that.
I have no idea what it could be, but female baldness is not THAT uncommon an occurrance, but it's probably not that either. Go see a doctor, maybe you've picked up an infection, or exposed yourself to a chemical or something you're alergic to. Also, do you have a cat who likes to play with your hair...if that's the case, maybe kitty decided she needs a new cat toy and took swipes at your head as you were sleeping? If there is sensitivity in that area, it could be an indication that hair was pulled out or snagged in some way. At any rate, see a doctor, because it's more than likely that you're alergic to something.

Ok dont freak out this happended to me. Are you taking a birth control pill??? Because that is your cause. I got three bald spots and it took 2 years and really embarassing moments for me to figure out what actually was causing it. I thought I was going to lose all my hair and what not I was freaked. So hopefully this is what you problem is. If you read the side effects it cleary says hair loss. You need to go off the pill and really cant take any of them every again. I tried 3 differnt kinds after the fact and they all did the same thing. I was tied of having a bald spot on my head like a freak haha. Good luck. and in the meantime buy thease pills from GNC they are called NUHAIR you can probaly order them online. they seemed to help as well.

Do you rest your head there a lot when you are laying or sitting down? It could be rubbed off if there is NO SIGN of hair anywhere or if there is peach fuzz there. Otherwise it could be from a scar or a defect or some kind. If you are really that upset about it and your parents have a history of baldness or bald spots, go see the doctor. Otherwise I would say it was something that was ripped or rubbed off and will grow back. Good luck!!

I started losing my hair in my 40's as I was on a diet. Several specialist doctors could not tell me why for practically a year. It was really thin and wispy. I went to the hairdresser and the operator at the next station reached over, pulled up a clump and said, "More protein." So I started eating alot of hamburgers and drinking protein supplements and the next month I had baby fuzz growing in and it's been nice and thick for 10 years of a high protein diet.

I can only say that I have a female cousin that had the same problem five years ago and her female doctor told her to have more sex than usual and if you can without being detected by the guy, rub a small portion of his seman on the bald spot and watch the hair grow back so quickly and thick you will not believe it. You do this because now you have to balance estrogen along with the tetosterane that you are lacking in you blood cells and for wiping a small bit of sperm on the spot creates a quick way to get the tetosterone into you blood system and it gives it the nutrition it needs to start the hair growth again. The sperm cannot smell or taste like salt thou.

While genetics plays a role, there are other factors, including: hormonal imbalances, an underactive thyroid gland, nutrient deficiencies and insufficient scalp circulation.

you could be balding. balding is very uncommon in females because it's a recessive sex-linked trait so you would need for both of your parents to have it. this means your dad is bald/balding. if he's not bald/balding you should see your doctor.

You are probably lacking in a particular vitamin. Mine started doing that and I had a hair analysis done, and found some of my vitamins and minerals were low, I was also toxic in a few things..
