Yeast infections symptoms vary most of the time you'll have a discharge that smells like yeast, itching and burning, soreness, it will look red around the vaginal region and it can be clear to cottage cheese type discharge. What causes it, is moisture that is trapped around the vagina. A wet bathing suit can cause a yeast infection if one doesn't change right away, antibiotics, tight clothing, bubble baths, and anything that is not made from cotton. Eat/Take lactobacillus, which can be found in yogurt, this helps the microflora in the stomach, and also pills and this will help make probotics in the body. Also, when you buy yogurt make sure it says something like live active cultures. A good way to get rid of it is over-the-counter suppositories that you stick up in the vagina or AZO which you can take orally. If it gets worse then go to the ob/gyn and she will prescibe something stronger such as Terazol , which is a crean that you stick up your vagina for 3-7 days or 150 mg of Diflucan that can be taken orally. But if you have never had a yeast infection before, and you start to have symptoms please see the obgyn to reconfirm if this is an infection. Also you can get a yeast infection from perfumed soaps, birth control, stress, and also the change in hormone levels and maxi pads if you don't change them atlesast every 3-6 hours.

Itching and burning in and around your vagina is a big symptom, also cottage-cheese-esque discharge (I know it's a gross description but also the most accurate). Yeast infections do not usually have a smell associated with them, so if you smell "fishy" down there, it's a bacterial infection, not yeast.

Yeast infections can be caused by all kinds of things. Sometimes it's caused because a lubricant used during sex has sugar in it, and the yeast feeds on the sugar and gets out of control. Sometimes it's caused by going on antibiotics, which can kill the bacteria in your vagina that keep too much yeast from growing. Sometimes it can be caused by having a lot of processed sugar in your diet, again feeding the yeast so that they grow out of control. It can also be caused by douching, because douching upsets the balance of yeast an bacteria in the vagina, so whatever you do, don't douche! (Also, if you do douche when you already have an infection, it will only make things worse.)

If you've never had a yeast infection before and you think you have one, you should go to a doctor before you try to treat yourself. You could have an STD, or you could have Bacterial vaginosis (that's the "fishy" smell infection), an imbalance in the vagina where the bacteria is out of control instead of the yeast.

Yeast infection is when a woman has to much of a buildup of a certain ezemzine and it turns into the mother of all yeast infections, but do not worry there is a pill called dyflucan which is only one pill that is prescribed by your doc and it will go away quick, also you will know or your guy friend will know when you are in the infection stage because your box will smell like bacon mixed with a little bit of twang. It does smell like raw bacon out of the wrap. Keep that snatch shaved at all times as well for alot of pubic hairs curl inward into the vigina lips thus causing bateria to grow and then chief, you went from having a minnow on the hook to having Jaws so to speak for a worse infection, also it is very good to douch with vinegar and coke cacola twice a month. That will keep all bacteria away and will also keep yeast from ever building up again, then you will go from smelling like bacon to smelling like a rose. smooth too.

Hi there, I'm an R.N. and I'll be happy to answer.

Yeast infections are caused by an organism called Candida...it actually is a form of yeast (a fungus). We all have yeast on our skin, but sometimes we get infections from them because they grow out of control. Many things can cause your body to be susceptible to yeast...antibiotics, diabetes (to name a couple).

The best way to get rid of it is to use an anti-fungal cream made to treat yeast infections. They are available over-the-counter for about $10. You apply it topically (this means you don't swallow it).

There are many preparations and they range from 1-day treatment to 7-day treatment types.

The symptoms are: itching, burning, and discomfort around the vaginal area and there is usually a thick, white, cottage cheese-like discharge that really doesn't smell bad. If you're irritated enough you can also have some bleeding.

Itching is the most common symptom. Also discharge and burning. It's often caused because bacteria gets in there somehow and causes an infection, and heat from that area helps the bacteria to thrive. (They're also known to happen during pregnany.)

If over the counter medications don't help, you'll need to see a doctor. If you want to try something very mild at first, use a beta-dine douche. That's what my doctor told me to use when I wound up with a yeast infection during my pregnancy, and it cleared it right up.

Symptoms are ITCH, ITCH, ITCH...maybe a little discharge along with it. Many different things can cause it...swimming pools or antibiotics to name a couple of things. You could go to the drugstore and get some Monostat 7. That is a cream you will insert. It usually clears up with in 7 days. If it doesn't you will need to go to the doctor because it could be something worse than a yeast infection. Good luck and don't be grabbing any round brushes or anything..lol

Yeast infections... ahhh!!!! Let's see, you are red, swollen and itchy. You can have discharge, sometimes discharge has a foul odor. The itching and swelling can be all around the outside or even inside. Go to pharmacy or Walmart, (wherever) and get a 7 day yeast infection kit, you insert the medicine into vagina. Insert at night time and lay down right away, it tends to leak out. Make sure you buy the one with a tube of external itch ointment, you put that on the outside. Hope I could help!!!

You may want to search Yahoo!Answers for this topic, as it is asked regularly, and has gotten some great answers.

If you only have vaginitis then there are creams at the drug store. Go for the 7 day one.

If on the skin you need an anti-fungal cream and/or powder. You can use lotrimin AF cream or any other similar anti-fungal product. You can order Zeasorb-AF powder through your drug store, if they don't carry it on the shelves. Or you can use yogurt. Eat plain yogurt about 3 times a week, and/or use it like a cream on the area. It will smell, but the acidophilus bacteria in the yogurt neutralizes yeast.

This is also the same fungus that results in jock itch, athlete's foot, thrush (white tongue), vaginitis (in women), ringworm and other skin rashes. It is the Candida Albicans fungus (yeast).

Well, symptoms include a terrible itching, depending on what stage you are in, a bad smell that you will know is not your scent, and eventually, it will hurt when you urinate and when you have sex. Getting rid of them is pretty easy and Monostat 7 or something by them usually works in a week or less. As for what causes it, I do believe it is viral and can come as a secondary infection from taking antibiotics over a 10 day period or so. It would depend on what you have been doing over the past few months. Drop me a line if you need more info!! Good luck!!

Itching, foul smelling discharge, pain with urination. You could ask your doctor how to clean it up but he would just tell you to get an over the counter medication for yeast infections like vagisil. You know a women can get yeast infections if their men are cheating, if you are having lots of problems with them. Also an untreated yeast infection can turn into chlamydia.
