Im a pakistani muslim and my girlfriend is a hindu. Will they get mad at me for going out with their daughter? They're a middle class semi-conservative family.

I don't know anything about India, except the stereotypes and propaganda, so I figured Id ask.

Well brother......all the best of luck for you. I am sure...they will be upset on their daughter choosing a potential husband from a) different religion and b) different country. But it all depends on how much you love each other and how you will be able to overcome all difficulties.

People in India are not against Pakistanis. I hope the same with Pakistanis also. Indians are not against any religion. It is the political and religious leadership who made this present situation for their political gain. No one in Hindu or Muslim community would like to get their children married to a different community. They dont even allow from a different cast!! Your case is too much complicated, from a different community and also from a different country . That too when the relationship between the two countries is not so good.
Romance and love is good in cinemas and in novels and not in real practical life. You both will have to face problems from the society you live.

I am sure, girl's parents will not agree to this marriage. I suggest you to go for a homely and beautiiful Pakistani girl. If you both are staying outside India you will not face any of the problems mentioned above and you can go ahead with the marriage without the consent of parents.

Think again and again . What are you going to gain after crossing all the hurdles and hurting the feelings of the parents.
Do you think your married life will be successful for ever ? Nothing can't be predicted. Go for an arranged marriage with your parents blessing.
Good Luck !

Following will matter!

1) How much girl loves you?
2) How much her parents love HER?
3) From which city they are i.e. people in metropolitan cities are not that much orthodox when compared to other cities or towns.
4) What is their social status i.e. if they are from upper/middle strata, then ego will be there.

Generally, in India, there are reports whereby people are just killed because they had married outside their Castes (NOT RELIGION).

So it is still very orthodox society as far as these kind of marriages are concerned, whatever people say about India becoming next superpower or so. However, social fabric is as such that these marriages are considered taboo and people have been brought up in the same enviornment.

So beaware of all the facts and be ready to face any eventualty you may find yourself in, I hope you don't, but may be.

Good luck!!!

Indians don't mind your what is your nationality, but how you regard india its cultura and society. For marriage they may look for same caste or similar caste, some opposition may be there. But if the girl really love you, it does'nt matter.

best of luck
