Before you answer think on this: Why do Home phones have unlimited minutes except for long distance calls? Why do you have to pay for minutes on a Cell phone? Why haven't a phone company created a joint venture of a Homephone with a Cellphone(without being charged for BOTH)? Can a Cellphone be used to connect with the internet and to make calls for FREE?

Cell phone all the way. It stores contats, can text message, can acually store tons of information, and you can take it anywhere. Plus you can download ringtones.

The answer is VOIP. Vonage being a front runner in the technology. $25 a month for unlimited local and long distance calling plus all the bells and whistles (call waiting, call forwarding, caller ID, etc). All you need is a high speed connection. I will never go back to a traditional phone company again.
