Starting?? I've felt it for years. $3.00 per gallon of gas, almost as much as a gallon of milk. The food tax over 8%. Shame our govt is more concerened with other countries than our own.

Good question. Of course my gas fill ups are more expensive. Even more noticeable because I try to ride my bike everywhere or walk and in San Francisco that is pretty easy to do. But last time I filled up after about a month ago from the prior time it seemed the cost was up 10 percent. In the news today they say prices are the highest for gas right now.
The higher costs of energy will start to be transferred to other goods but I haven't seen it yet. But I'm sure as trucking and freight costs start to mount then rising food costs will occur too.
I've heard from some friends who work in restaurants and observed that there aren't as many people eating out anymore too. It looks as if we are definitely entering a period of higher prices. Maybe George will have another solution for this one: maybe invade Switzerland.

people were living payday to payday under the Clinton years too. namely people like me.
I've been very vocal about this issue for a long time. I really don't see the good it does to gripe about things like that when no one is willing to cut back. We are driving around like gas is still cheap, we're still getting our nails done and buying new cellphones and paying 10 bucks to see a movie. if times are hard, you couldn't tell it by the way people live.

Yes, my electric bill was higher this month but I am not using anymore power than I was last month. I need to find a new apartment before December and finding one in a somewhat nice area in my budget is tough.
