My surname is Huntford and I have Eskyn as a middle name and I wonder if anyone knows where in Britain these names come from? I have tried to track down relatives in Britain for a few years, but without any luck. I think Eskyn is Welsh and Huntford Scottish, but I'm not sure? Please help.

I don't know about Eskyn, but there's a small hamlet just across the border to Scotland called Huntford, it's on the A68 road from Northumberland to Edinburgh, maybe your name is from that place? Just a thought. You could also try the National Archives.

Unfortunately I can't shed much light on the origin of your names, but I have to point out that Uncle John is talking the biggest load of shіte I've ever heard in my life. Since when is Huntford a northern Irish name?! I'd be almost certain that it's English (but regionally I'm not sure), and Eskyn has that Welsh look about it.
You're on the right track, and why not contact the Public Records Office? Hope you come up with something.

My guess, and a guess is all it is at the moment, is that eskyn is Welsh, and Hunford is British. That would mean, that your name came from Northern Ireland. It's also possible that both your surname and your middle name came from two seperate ancestors or relatives.
