When we moved into our apartment, we couldn't actually see the apartment first, only a model. It's infested with roaches, spiders, and ants. We've been living here for 7 months and our lease is up in January. My mom has been putting off hiring an exterminator, and it's just disgusting here. I'm literally afraid to eat anything that's not in the fridge. What are some sure fire ways I can scare the crap out of her( true things) and get her to hire an exterminator?

Honestly, if you live in an apartment building, you are pretty much out of luck unless the WHOLE building is exterminated. Not so much so with spiders and ants, as you can get some spray for them at your local Lowe's or Walmart (big gallon jug spray bottles, or can get air foggers which work best). However, with the roaches...those suckers can live through just about anything. And the fact is, if you see one, there are thousands inside the walls in colonies. If you try to treat just one apartment for them, they just travel to the next one until it is safe to come back. So, your best bet is to have whoever the landlord is exterminate the entire building...both inside and outside. This will give them nowhere to run to. This means inside crawl spaces, attics, etc. They will hide anywhere. Next time, PLEASE look at the apartment ahead of time...and if the landlord won't let you, then that's a good sign that they have something to hide and are trying to get a leasee as quickly as possible. Good luck.

One lady in England had such a problem with roaches she collected them in a jar and went down to the landlord's office and opened it. They finally listened to her complaints.

I'm assuming your mom is the landlord? You could threaten to call the housing authority if she doesn't do something. It's her job to have the place exterminated both inside and out on a regular basis. Check your state laws on this, too.

ever tried naftalene balls (provided you don't have a baby in the house)?
throw them anywhere and everywhere, works for me.
i used ant killer (small pallet form) to kill the ants,
it work in 2 days. No ants came back since, guess they all died.
