Area of lot = (40)(36) = 1440
Area of house = (27)(9) = 243
Area left over = 1440 - 243 = 1197

IN reality it should be 1,197 sq Mt left over area for your lawn. The way to caluclate is

40 X 36 = 1444 (Total Area of the lot)

27 X 9 = 243 (Total area of the house)

1,444 Less 243 = 1,197 area left over.

Area of the lot, 40m x 36m = 1440 sq. m.

Area of the house, 27 x 9= 243 sq. m.

1440 - 243 = 1197 sq. m. left over
