It's a special combination of chemicals that creates and ink that cannot be seen shortly after being used. Depending on the kind that is made, it can be viewed under alternative light sources or when put near heat. Again, it depends on the chemicals and the amounts thereof as to what kind of ink is created. Good question!!

it's "invisible" ink and yin order to see it, you have to use a special light. it's usually attached to the invisible ink pen.
