On my TV there was no headbutt. It was a peaceful final. Probably ZinedineVieira had the same experience.

Well, in the World Cup Final France played Italy, as I am sure you know. Mid way in the second half, captain of France, Z. Zidane headbutts and Italian defender.
On the replays, you can see that there was some little argument between the two players. The fight ( researchers found out ) started because apperently, the Italian insulted him and his family.
Then, they start walking, and Zidane turns, faces the Italian, and hits him with his head with what seems full-force.
The Italian did not die, put was very hurt. The referee later, seeing the replays, decides to give the captain a red card ( which means you are off for the rest of the game ).
A little less than a week of the World Cup, which Italy won, Zidane appologies to the children who watched it because it is a bad example of good-sportmanship.
That was the last game for the Frenchman, for he was old to be playing ( mid 30s ) and was and is retiring for international and national football ( soccer ).

Yes, it's true. The Italian player told Zidane that he's gonna get the Mafia to kill his family. So Zidane got scared and pulled out a pea-shooter from his shorts and hit the Italian on the side of the head. (ie. the temple). They rushed him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead after 12 hours of surgery. As punishment for the crime, Zidane was red-carded and banned from soccer forever. Also, the referees declared Italy the winner after they disqualifed France.

It was Zinedine Zidane from france that headbutted Marco Materazzi of Italy during the World Cup final because Materazzi insulted him.

It was Zidane and he didn't kill the other guy. The Italian said something horrible about his mom and sister and Zidane got mad and head butted him in the chest. It was Zidanes last game and he got a red card.
