We just had an oval 12x24 above ground pool put in the back yard. Our yard is on a slope, so one end of the pool is at least a foot below the ground while the other end is level with the ground. I am unsure what to do with the drench that is at the one end of the pool and slopes to nothing at the other end. Do I fill in with dirt? With Sand? Or is that a bad thing, as I have read on some sites. I can't leave this big drench, it is a broken leg accident waiting to happen. Can someone advice please. Thanks

If I understand you correctly, your pool is on a hill with a 1 foot slope. You need to level it out. I suggest creating a retaining wall with brick or railroad ties and filling it in with dirt and gravel. Alternatively, you can built a cement platform or wood deck.

I would look for manufacturer recomendations. Certainly do not backfill without water in the pool. You'll need pressure from water to prvent caving in.
Most likely you need to install an retaining wall, you could use concrete blocks. Or you grade it nicely and built a small deck to cover the gap.

If you can't afford in-ground pool, don't get a redneck, cheesy *** above ground pool! It's a wannabe and you'll never be with one of those....Ohhhh..let's dive in my above ground pool! WAIT! It's 4 feet deep all the way around! ICK! Get in your bath tub or go to the trailer park's community pool!

yea built it up with dirt and sand on top of it and maybe make a wooden frame with decorative stones for reinforcement and will look good too.
