I think they are if it is the "right" woman. I personally don't think Hillary Clinton has a chance but Condoliza Rice does. I also think the right woman could finally head us toward balancing the budget, cutting spendful waste, etc.
And to those who will say a woman is too emotional, they are wrong. Not all women are emotional. Many women are very calm, cool and collected even under adversity.

I think most Americans could care less. We've had female governors since long before there was a suffragette movement, more than a century ago.
What a candidate's policies would be should matter more than gender. But, then again, in America, we clearly have problems thinking without stereotypes, as all the people who've answered that "men have messed things up" demonstrate.
Whether the Republicans or Democrats would field one is another question. Who knows what party leaders think, or if they think at all.

Yes. So far the men have done a terrible job, especially the jackass in office right now. It would be funny if he wasn't running our country.
Well to be fair not all have been bad, but why the hell couldn't a woman be a president. Don't say it's because we get emotional during our time of the month. Men go through these midlife crisis where the have interns give them blowj*^s under the table, they have gone and started wars, and shared a mistress with their brother. If we can run companies, own our own businesses, be a mom, run a home and put up with fussy men, we can run a damn country! :)

Ask the British. Thatcher was the best Prime Minister since Churchill. And how about Gandhi in India. Yes America is ready. It needs a woman to straighten out the mess Bush and his advisers have made.

I think some people are but, I know so many oppose it. I'm only 15 and I have always said I wanted to be President. Hopefully by the time I am old enough it will happen.

Only if her last name is RICE. That would take care of several things. She is experienced in world affairs. Educated out of the world. Works well with others. Communicates well. Stands up for what she believes in. AND----
She is a QUALIFIED BLACK WOMAN!

Why not, if their intelligent and competent they deserve the job,the fact that the candidate is a women or black or jewish or muslim should not be taken into account when voting.
