All the answers are good, but there is psycological reason as well.
Disclaimer: I have never taken a psycology class in my life.
We eat cupcakes because at some point in time in our life a parent gave us a cupcake. We had this phenominal sensory experiance, so occasionally when we're looking for sweet stuff we remember that expericance and want to feel it again so try it again. Every time we eat another cupcake and continue to feel that feeling , it reinforces those feelings.
We seek love because when we were children our parents loved us. Wheneven we were scared, hungry, sad, bored, they were the ones that made all those feelings go away. In a lover we're looking for people to make all those bad things not to happen just like our parents did.

It's a primal instinct. It gave cavemen a valid reason to mount their cavewomen from behind? It's evolved somewhat, ya know... we lost all that body hair. At least, most of us have, but damn it, we still love!

i think we love Caz its an uncontrollable feeling and also a great feeling, know that there's a man/woman/??? (don't mean to be rude) but every1 wants to feel loved and appreciated and to know there's sum1 out there who cud possible fulfill that feeling is the greatest. at least for me i love being in love and i have the sweetest guy that loves me and i love him so it feels great. try it guys it wont hurt.

I think we'd have to convince ourselves that a certian someone is the person we want as an ideal mate. I think its nature's tool to keep us procreating. It kind of takes down our guard to allow the opposite sex close enough to us so we can mate.

We can't help ourselves. It's in our nature to reach out to someone else. We do it for comfort, we do it to receive love in return, we do it so we're not alone. We're social beings and we need to connect with others.
