I would characterize my family as the way families should be.
My husband and I have been married 24 years and have 4 great kids.
Our parents stayed married all their lives, and so did their parents. Our siblings are all married and upper middle class like us. We get married, marry a nice person (except for my sister-in-law), and stay married.
My son just got married to a wonderful girl whom we love.
Marry your best friend and put each other first so your marriage has the best chance of lasting. My sister-in-law is the only one who settled and married a jerk. He is a jerk with money so at least she has a comfortable miserable life!

I will not watch a soap opera because they always have my family down to a T..this is the truth. Now they are not quite like on Jerry Springer, but I really think those folks are there to only get a free makeover..Can you imagine what they would look like without one??
Check this observation out next time..is a hair out of place? They are freaks of nature on that show, where as my family is only mildly freaked as in the soap operas, and also the events are spread out for the long run, like on a soap opera.Whoa! Hard to explain in one breath! To be continued....

BIG family. Irish, English, German, French, Russian roots. The occasional shameful one. My immediate family contains seven children and still-married parents. Mother's side is very down-home middle class Kentuckians. Father's side are upper-class British. So I'm quite a mutt, and it's seemed to have worked out quite nicely in my opinion. They're also all so very eccentric. And the general trend is intellegent, musical, driven, and stubborn. lol.

A nice mix of rednecks, hillbillies and sophisticates. Very loving and supportive, and just a tad on the crazy side. What's not to love about this family?

oh that is a good one.. i think they really care but they seem to go there own way and live their own life... we have been getting together more though and i am thankful for that.. i think they did not know the need before.. i lost my dad may 1 2005 and now my mother is very ill... and it has brought us closer together.. even my sons are coming around more to check on mom.. i really kind of lost it after my dad died...he was a minister and i think i felt a lot of guilt because i did not always live the way he taught us to live... but i am doing better now.. but i almost lost my own life after my dads funeral... i talked to my oldest son for about 2 hours today on the phone.. i am thankful for the concern now of family members....losing your mom and dad is very hard...i have lost young babies but i never had them as long as i did my mom and dad...but the pain has lessened but it never goes away..

Immediate family is completely loving. Extended family is completely two-faced.
