Please go to the doctor right away. I just helped nurse my brother in law who was diagnosed with congestive heart failure, and his legs and feet were severely swollen. He had edema as a result of CHF. I sincerely hope this is not the case with you and it probobly is not, but please check anyway. It was heartbreaking watching the pain my BIL was going throgh. He is anti-doctor, prefers natural remidies, so it was difficult to help him., when he wouldn't go to the doctor. (he finally did go). He couldn't breathe from the water retention in his lungs. Anyway, I am not trying to scare you or be overly dramatic, but I have just recently seen these swollen feet and legs, and your question reminded my of my BIL. I am sure there are a lot of other reasons for swelling of the legs and feet, but only a doctor will be able to tell you best. Hope everything works out for you, I would be curious to see what the diagnosis is. (or is that being too nosy)

There are many things you can do. Eating less or no salt would be a nice start. Substitute Mrs. Dash another seasoning. Drink green tea, it ups your anti-oxidents and its gets rid of excess water in your body. Exercise lightly every day, start with a short walk and build up your tolerance. Then walk a little more every week. Wear support stockings when you walk if its not too too hot where you are. Make it enjoyable to walk, go a different way ,bring music, say hello to neighbors, if that is a good thing where you are or talk a friend into going with you. Reward yourself for exercising with something you like, not potato chips, lol. If the swelling is really bad you may need to see a doctor and get evaluated for medication.

See your doctor. They may prescribe you a water pill. You need to watch your salt intake also. Elevate your feet and drink plenty of water

have your liver tested. your kidney functions could be malfunctioning because of undiagnosed liver disease such as HCV.
go to the doctor and ask about HCV...you are in the age range where hcv is more prominant.
