Your read laser has burned out. The same thing happened to me with my DVD-Rom drive. It will (would) still play DVD's, just not CD's, because they use a different laser for each type of disc. You're gonna need a new drive. Luckily, they're cheap now.

you do not get them to artwork lower back - you replace them with new ones. Any opticalchronic makes use of an fantastically precisely-concentrated laser. With persevered use, that laser is going out of adjustment particularly. As time is going on, the adjustment worsens and thechronic starts having issues. often this takes a pair of years, however it may variety counting on how a lot you take advantage of thechronic and the surroundings in which it is used. Can it is fixed? confident. It takes a quite educated technician and somewhat of kit that prices about $seventy 5,000. seeing that a sort newchronic prices someplace interior the community of twenty-5 or thirty bucks lately, the answer's "replace thechronic."

Your drive is probably dirty. A dust bunny or something in there. Open the door and give it a quick blast of compressed air. If that fails, check software wise that your drivers are still installed on your burning software.. and finally if others don't work, open up the case and make sure it hasn't become unplugged..

Actully, you have a program in many Operating Systems, that lets you click on the term 'Eject' so the tray opens!
Too bad you didn't mention the OS, so I could give you exact directions!
