No one I know has an older computer that I can use to retrieve files on my old disks. The info on them is private so I don't want to go to the library or whatever.

Hi

If the data is small enough to fit on a floppy disk (or a couple), then I imagine (as another option) it's small enough to email to yourself.

You possibly could also network the two computers (as I'm assuming you're transferring data from one pc to another?), although it depends on your available ports, like ethernet or even moden to modem (of which only a fraction of the speed would be used; emailing stuff to your yourself *dialup* would be faster).

Or.. if your computer has a usb drive, you can purchase one of those flash drives http://www.usbflashdrive.org/ you can get one for $20 that would hold 128-256mb of data, which would be the equivalent of over 1-200 floppy disks.

There is external floppy USB. But, diskettes already very old and data saved there were not reliable, it might be unreadable in few more uses. Better use FLASH USB, data saved there are MORE reliable than in diskettes.

You can buy FLASH USB say 128 MB. It's very cheap now since 2Gb (NT$1500 or US$47) were already out and becoming common. Also, it's easy to bring anywhere since it's very small and some cute too (they can be put on your key chain).

I agree with the rest. if you must have a floppy disk drive and your computer has usb ports you can buy one in most stores that sell computers or a repair shop. if your usb ports are full you can also get a mulitabe usb port add on.
