The patch works. The first week is the hardest; you want to wear 10 of them plus chew on them. But I quit for a month on them. The only reason I started again is because I got into the Jack Daniels and needed to smoke.
The patch works, just refrain from drinking.
PS- It helps to take lots of vitamins (to help your body flush out the toxins) and get rid of ashtrays. Wash all linens and clothes to get rid of the smell. Put the money you would have used to buy smokes in a jar and see how much money you save.

When I was smoking I must have tried to quit at least 10 times before I actually did quit. Hypnosis can be useful, but some people are afraid of being hypnotized (which is a ridiculous fear). But the thing that finally worked for me was cold turkey.
One tip. After you quit, you should wait about 8 months before you get drunk. A few drinks, someone nearby starts smoking, you figure, "Oh just one!", then it's all over.
Good luck man, it's a tough thing to do.

Just quit. It only takes 3-4 days for the addictive nicotine to get out of your system. After that, you're battling your own mental needs.
Use a Bic Pen or Pencil to chew on, and have in your hands or get some Sugar Free gum.
Congratulations on your decision.

Hi......it's one of the toughest things you'll ever do......I smoked 2 packs a day for over 20 years, and stopped completely just a year ago.......I used NicoDerm CQ, 21 mgs., and Commit lozenges.......I kept very, very busy- and that's part of the trick......The patches and lozenges help with the physical agony of no cigs.....BUT.....even with these, you will still get the urge to smoke......That's where the keeping very busy comes in.......walk, run, ride a bike, shoot pool, exercise-anything---especially keeping your hands busy--the urges will then pass......I wouldn't buy generic brands with nicotine patches or lozenges......they tend to be weaker......By the way, I tried cold turkey, hypnosis, accupuncture. and laser......none kept me off cigs for more than 2-3 weeks......It took a total of 3 months of nic substitutes before I finally weaned myself off of them, and my family was the strong motivator, giving me the will to quit............ :-)

You have to really want to. You shouldn't use nicotine replacements, you'll just get dependent on them, go try hypnotism.
I just keep smoking because I mean really...I could die tomorrow get hit by a car or whatever....

Get rid of all ash trays, ect..... And convence yourself that you don't want to smoke anymore. You can only stop if you really want to.
