Schroeder! He's the one with the talent and the future, ride the coattails to fame! Plus he just seems cool. Charlie Brown is horribly unlucky and a downer, no one needs that. Linus is just a zealot loser with a security issues (aka the blanket!) and an insane older sister.
Snoopy and Woodstock are more fun, though.
