Would you allow your teenage daughter to make prank calls?

I do, but she only pranks friends. I just asked a question saying my daughter needs some funny names for prank calls and people flipped out saying I was immature for allowing her do that. It's better than doing drugs and having sex.

As long as the calls are not malicious, I don't see any harm in it. Every kid does it, or has done it. My kids did it. I did it. So what if people think you are immature, should you really care what everyone else thinks? Especially in Answers. It sounds like they are uptight jerks. Only you know what's good, or harmful for your daughter. If people would just chill out a little, this world would be in a better position. I give you three cheers for being a rebel. I thought I was the only one left. You are one of those people who make this world worth living in.
Just remember, those people who do not live by their own standards, but act according to what society dictates, will grow old early, and shrivel up and be very bitter people in the end. While you will remain young at heart.

I never encouraged it with my kids, regardless of their age, nor did I encourage them to use drugs or become sexually active t an early age. I think you can expect a kid to be able to act in an appropriate way without needing to allow them to substitute one bad activity for another. I'm pretty confident that most kids (including mine) have or will make prank calls at some point before they grow up and gain some maturity, but I wouldn't tell them I think it's OK, it isn't, it's annoying.

My mom lets me as long as I only call people I know and only on cell phones (unless they're parents don't mind the phone ringing at 3am).

It's not immature, it just labels you as the cool mom who lets the reins be loose in some areas (the prank calls) and tight in others (drugs, sex, etc.). Way to be a cool mom. ^__^

I only prank call my friends who have a sense of humor,and they usually know its me,so they laugh it off.

But if shes prank calling random numbers,thats not good.
Especially house phones.
People get more worked up over calling house phones than cell phones for some reason

My daughter does it too. It is also just her friends. Once in a blue moon she will call someone at random. She usually justs asks the person to be her friend in a funny voice, will you be my friend pleasebe my friend. It gets pretty funny sometimes. I agree its better then what she could be out doing. Sometimes she will call someone at like 2 in the morning, they anwser very tired and she asks what they are doing. or she will call and ask what their fav movie, song, food etc at an odd hour.

Prank calls are not only annoying but illegal. I'm not sure I would say you're immature for allowing such a thing so long as she really is pranking her friends and not teasing some other kid or harassing adults.
