Well...they're not like fish in that they don't have gills and breathe under water. But yes, they do die once outside the body. They are very sensitive to both temperature and pH. If either of those is out of range, the sperm die pretty quickly. BUT, they can be frozen and be brought back to "life"...this is how test tube fertilization occurs.

Wondering why you want to know this is kind of scaring me.
I saw this movie with Alicia Silverstone in it.... and she had use for that information and it was no good. NO GOOD I tell you!

They not only die once the liquid they live in dries up, but also inside of the vagina only the strongest swimmers get to live even a few hours....if impregnation is not achieved all die ...if it is achieved only that one lucky lil swimmer gets to live.

Even in the liquid, male sperm only survive about 30 min. if the liquid has dried, then most assuredly they are dead.
