7011 Welding Rod

Its a 6011 not a 7011. Get the smallest diameter they have. A 6011 is a fast freeze deep penetrating rod that works good on rusty and painted surfaces. Your best bet it to make a series of spot welds about 1/2" apart , let it cool and then fill inbetween. If you melt a big hole on thin tubing it can be a real pain to fill.

I would use a "jet rod" it burns easy and leaves a good bead. All you do is drag it along the surface.

Ask a welder that makes his living at this...he will tell you go with the jet rod! The flux is minimal, and the results can be X-rayed!

No Bubbles!

Hey Don't use the "Jet" rod for flat only, First rule Clean then good fit up. Then take some scrap exhaust and practice first BEFORE u are laying under your car Also know where your gas line is so you don't burn it to the ground.

7011 is pretty much a universal welding rod you can use it on any thing. So says my welding husband!

Wow..it's been a few years, but maybe a 3/32 rod? Keep the heat low so you don't burn through.
