The story of Lucifer's[not Satan's] fall is a conflation of the mths mentioned above with the events described by John Milton in Paradise Lost.
You are correct that it is not in the Bible. Somewhat. Its not possible to say definitively that Lucifer=Satan, but thats the general belief held by many christians who have only a superficial understanding of what they read.
Blatantly ripped from Wikipedia, here's more more info on the concept:
" In modern and late Medieval Christian thought, Lucifer is a fallen angel commonly associated with Satan, the embodiment of evil and enemy of God. Lucifer (who was supposed to be very beautiful) is generally considered, based on the influence of Christian literature and legend, to have been a prominent archangel in heaven(allthough some contexts say he was a cherubim or a seraphim), prior to having been motivated by pride to rebel against God. When the rebellion failed, Lucifer was cast out of heaven, along with a third of the heavenly host, and came to reside in the Hell. However, this common belief is not officially accepted by most Christian denominations, on the grounds that it exalts evil to an overly high position and is not directly supported by any passage in the Bible. Lucifer was originally a Latin word meaning "light-bearer" (from lux, "light", and ferre, "to bear, bring"), a Roman astrological term for the "Morning Star", the planet Venus. The word Lucifer was the direct translation of the Greek eosphorus ("dawn-bearer"; cf. Greek phosphorus, "light-bearer") used by Jerome in the Vulgate. In that passage, Isaiah 14:12, it referred to one of the popular honorific titles of a Babylonian king; however, later interpretations of the text, and the influence of embelishments in works such as Dante's The Divine Comedy and Milton's Paradise Lost, led to the common idea in Christian mythology and folklore that Lucifer was a poetic appellation of Satan."
I'll provide the link below, but suffice it to say this is a topic which has been obscured both by time's slow disordering of all things, and by people THINKING they understand or know something without checking the facts behind it .
The words "Lucifer" and "Satan" predate both Milton and the Bible. Its nearly impossible to say where the story originated. it most likely predates written language.
Here's the Wikipedia link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucifer
Also see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satan for an overview of Satan's "history", if you will.
Don't take these as authoritative proofs of anything either, just as a jumping off point if they don't answer your question. Both web pages have some references at the bottom which vary in quality. You should read those if you want some more info.
To sum up, no one can say for certain exactly Satan and Lucifer became identified as the same, but the 2 web pages I gave you should give you plenty of info to work with and form your own opinion.

Satan’s fall from heaven is described in Isaiah 14:12-14 and Ezekiel 28:12-18. While these two passages are referring specifically to the king of Babylon and the King of Tyre, they also reference the spiritual power that was behind those kings - Satan. In regards to when Satan fell, these passages describe why Satan fell, but they do not specifically say when the fall occurred. What we do know is this: the angels were created before the earth (Job 38:4-7). Satan fell before he tempted Adam and Eve in the Garden (Genesis 3:1-14). Satan’s fall, therefore, must have occurred somewhere after the time the angels were created and before he tempted Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Whether Satan’s fall occurred a few minutes, hours, or days before he tempted Adam and Eve in the garden, Scripture does not specifically say.
Why did Satan fall from Heaven? Satan fell because of pride. He desired to be God, not to be a servant of God. Notice the many "I will..." statements in Isaiah 14:12-15. Ezekiel 28:12-15 describes Satan as an exceedingly beautiful angel. Satan was likely the highest of all angels, the most beautiful of all of God's creations. Satan was not content in his position. Instead, Satan desired to be God, to essentially "kick God off His throne" and take over the rule of the universe. Satan wanted to be God, and interestingly enough, that is what Satan tempted Adam and Eve with in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3:1-5). How did Satan fall from Heaven? Actually, a fall is not an accurate description. It would be far more accurate to say that God cast Satan out of Heaven (Isaiah 14:15; Ezekiel 28:16-17).

Satan should be a mere personification of bad deeds but religions have picture him as a being.
I'd done a bit of reading on Babble ( Bible) here is the excerpt :
In the NT the term Satan, transliterated from the Hebrew, always designates the personal Satan (but cf. Matt 16:23; Mark 8:33).
He is often called the devil (Gr. diabolos), meaning "the slanderer" (Matt 4:1; Luke 4:2; John 8:44; Eph 6:11; Rev 12:12). ("Devils" in KJV and ERV is properly "demons.")
Other titles or descriptive designations applied to him are "Abaddon" or "Apollyon" (Rev 9:11); "Accuser of our brothers" (12:10); "enemy," Greek antidikos (1 Peter 5:8); "Beelzebub" (Matt 12:24); "Belial" (2 Cor 6:15); the one who "leads the whole world astray" (Rev 12:9); "the evil one" (Matt 13:19, 38; 1 John 2:13; 5:19); "the father of lies" (John 8:44); "the god of this age" (2 Cor 4:4); "a murderer" (John 8:44); "that ancient serpent" (Rev 12:9); "the prince of this world" (John 12:31; 14:30); "the ruler of the kingdom of the air" (Eph 2:2); "the tempter" (Matt 4:5; 1 Thess 3:5).

In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.
The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of God plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.
Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.
Oddly, proof for The Christian satin/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.
Other hints about satins role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

Actually, the Lord Jesus Christ talks about Satan's fall I believe in the book of Luke. He said, " I saw Satan fall like lightning from the sky. Therefore I give you authority to trample over snakes and scorpions". So, Satan was in heaven and cast down according to the scripture.

THE BIBLE: Contemporary English Version
Isaiah XIV
12You, the bright morning star, Lucifer, have fallen from the sky! You brought down other nations; now you are brought down. 13You said to yourself, "I'll climb to heaven and place my throne above the highest stars. I'll sit there with the gods far away in the north. 14I'll be above the clouds, just like God Most High." 15But now you are deep in the world of the dead.
Revelation XII
4With its tail, it dragged a third of the stars from the sky and threw them down to the earth. Then the dragon turned toward the woman, because it wanted to eat her child as soon as it was born.
7A war broke out in heaven. Michael and his angels were fighting against the dragon and its angels. 8But the dragon lost the battle. It and its angels were forced out of their places in heaven 9and were thrown down to the earth. Yes, that old snake and his angels were thrown out of heaven! That snake, who fools everyone on earth, is known as the devil and Satan.

"tell me, do you experience there exists smart existence on diverse planets ?" that is gorgeous probably, given the kind of stars in our universe, and planets that could want to encompass a number of them. "If certain, do you consider they arrive to earth (assuming there are one of those large volume of of those stepped ahead beings on different planets.)" i do no longer believe so. I see no reason to finish UFOs are alien crafts, or perhaps a lot less purpose to imagine that any intelligent alien species may communicate with us. we are beautiful damn far faraway from the nearest solar technique. besides the actuality that if there may nicely be existence on those planets, journey at or on the challenge of the speed of sunshine does no longer make the vacation conceivable for some deliver of extraterrestrial beings. we are conversing about ships vacationing 4+ gentle years accurate the following. this isn't some tiny distance. "furnish an reason behind why do you think they ought to come back to earth or now no longer." Err, honestly i'd favor if developed existence visited, in many situations so we may bounce ahead in technological understanding nicely previous what we may quite typically accomplish interior my lifetime.
