I'm a single, straight woman considering having a child with a gay, male friend. This would be a co-parenting situation, i.e. joint custody. Has anyone else created this kind of alternative family? How has it worked? Positives and negatives. Also, do you know of any resources where I can get more information? Thanks.

this is a power packed relationship if you asked me!
because in this case, you will be able to provide a "traditional" family unit situation and yet its really an alternative "lifestyle" (i don't agree with that label but i think its accurate here)
i personally have no experience in this area but i think this could really work. at least you'll be able to educate your kids about being tolerant and the kid gets the best of both the gay and straight world!

i sincerely wish you well in your attempt to pioneer something as novel as this. i know i didn't answer your question but i had to say something cuz i admire your courage to try something like this!

regards.
