To answer Matt & Leo, As unpopular as it is I am in favor of more taxes towards the middle class. Even though I'm a member of the middle class there's a proven econmic formula that says the more taxes the middle/lower class pays and less the rich pay the econmy is actually better.

Got to this link, take the test, pretend you are the president of the US and making the decision for the whole country when you answer. then you will know what parties closely resemble your point of view.
as for your answers:
on taxes you are a conservative
like JFK (D) and Ronald Reagan (R) two different parties but both conservatives...
I am for the death penalty.
conservative
I am for gay marriage
liberal
I am against religion in the courts/schools
liberal
I am against abortion,
conservative,
but respect a woman's right to have one
liberal
I am for almost all kinds of free speech/expression including KKK, flag burning
Conservative
my Conservative point opposite your liberal points
(as a conservative I wish to keep marriage between a man and a woman, but am OK with civil unions for gay couples, not all conservative are for civil unions but they wish to preserve the sanctity of marriage)
(as a conservative I know that this country was based on Christian values, and the bible use to be taught in schools, and no where in the constitution is the a separation of church and state in fact in the constitution it states that the government shall make NO laws prohibiting religion...and can not establish a "federal religion". but states and communities do have the right to establish a religion; based on it's majority and the federal government can not prohibit it.)
most conservatives do not want to "publicly fund abortions"
but understand that a woman who was forced did not have a choice and in that instance conservatives are OK with an abortion
(I believe in a woman's right to choose, (1 time). in the case of rape and incest or other forced pregnancies the woman did not have a choice so the choice to have an abortion is OK this would be her right to choose.
(If you were having sex because you wanted too. in my opinion then you have made your choice to get pregnant, and i am now against your having an abortion because you already choose...)
as for free speech I am for any open free speech as long as it is not treasonous.
Government has the right to keep secrets during a time of war. after the war there will be plenty of time to determine if any citizens rights were violated.

Like most Americans you seem to float in different directions, more towards the right on some issues and more towards the left on others.
You're pretty much a Moderate. Welcome to the majority.
Except for the gay marriage stand I share your views. But I'll add that I believe in a strong military and think there must be a better way than welfare. I also want a flat tax with no loopholes for the rich or for corporations.

It makes you an independent thinker, someone who doesn't need to be told by a group what to think.
Why do you feel the need to label your views under a banner that really has no meaning? These labels of conservative, liberal, democrat, republican, etc., are intended to divide us on issues that are very personal and subjective in their interpretation and meaning. Those who are waiting for you to take a side have only selfish interests at heart. Beware of them. It's obvious that a real choice has an variety of possibilities, not just 2. (Two choices is the next worse thing to only one choice.)
You can be any combination of those things, and change them whenever you want. The important thing is to think clearly about what the issues mean to you, and to know that you are doing your best.

I think the defining thing here would be your stance on things like legalizing drugs and prostitution.
You lean liberal mostly, but liberals don't tend to support the death penalty. The rest of your beliefs are more liberal leaning than conservative.
If you were for legalization of "victimless" crimes and a market free of government regulation, you'd probably be a libertarian.

On the death penalty and abortion you are pretty conservative; maybe even on free speech in some ways. On all other issues presented you are liberal.
I'm the opposite; I oppose the death penalty, and gay marriage, and abortion and have no problem with religion being taught in schools....and I abhore flagburning....so I'm considered a redneck except on the death penalty...

It's not an either-or choice. There are not just two options, despite what the pundits might claim.
The key difference between liberals and conservatives isn't what they personally believe. It how willing they are to attempt to impose their beliefs on others.
You seem to be willing to allow others to live their own lives and make their own choices. To me, that makes you a rational sensible person.
I don't do labels.

Sorta like me, moderately liberal. I agree pretty much with what you said. In addition
I am for less government intrusion in our personal lives
I am for less corporate welfare.
I am for America concerning itself with America, let the rest of the world deal with their own problems.
I disagree mainly with your edits and here we diverge. Trickle down economics is not proven. David Stockman, Reagan's Economic Advisor later characterized supply side economics and trickle down economics as rhetoric. I disagree with legalization of prostitution but think drugs should be legalized.
