Bachelor's in Business Administration, it is the most vague of the degree's in my opinion. A lot time the employer just wants to know that you could hack it in a high stress environment, meet deadlines, multi-task, and follow direction. That is basically what a degree is unless it is program specific.
You can do almost anything that doesn't require specific schooling. The business degree teaches you common sense of dealing with people (intra-intercommunication) how to give direction, how to execute projects, multi-task. All of these are required at any job. You can cross state lines with it and with out taking a state certification test or licensure.
Your definetly more confined with a career focus or program specific degree but they are the highest paying jobs (lucrative) and most respected. People know you had to work a little harder to get a degree that has a career focus.
I am a dental hygienist with my Associates in Science with a focus in dental hygiene, I love that not anybody off the street can have my job, plus it pays better than my Bachelor's in business with a focus in Marketing. This degree I didn't like because of the competition is sooo great and you have to start at the bottom and work your way up no matter how much schooling you have or experience with the hopes that you will rise quickly.
Well anyway a degree in any form is best, I respect anyone you completed thier degree, it takes ambition, passion, patience, and finally intelligence.
I have stuck by the quote:
small minds talk about people, average minds talk about events, great minds talk about ideas. -?
and
Wise words come from the lips of people with understanding. Wise people treasure knowledge, but the babbeling fool invites trouble. -Proverbs
and
Truth cannot be embodied in a book. Inspired books demand inspired readers. A book can stimualte thought but it cannot impart it. -Aristotle

Generally BA degrees (english, history, philo, etc) give the widest range of opportunities. Often preceeded with the statement "would you like fries with that sir?".
Otherwise get a generalized science degree - math, physics, chem. They'll give you fewer options but better options.

You have to narrow the field to a specific area. The traditional Liberal Arts degree gives you nothing. You have to choose field of interest such as Engineering, Education, Computer Sciences.
