I live in an apartment, no garage is available, just a parking lot that is not gated. The bike I'm buying is worth less than $2000. Do I have any chance of keeping it?

I live in an apartment, no garage is available, just a parking lot that is not gated. I am on the 3'rd floor so I can't park inside. The bike I'm buying is worth less than $2000. Do I have any chance of keeping it? Optimism is appreciated.

Nobody is going to mess with a bike worth less than $2000.
But if you are still paranoid, chopperchopster has the right idea with parking it in the living room. It will add character to your apt also. Get a remote for your front door.

Use all precautions available like fork locks,a chain from wheel to wheel with it up off the ground so the lock holding it isn't that easily cut with bolt cutters Install anchors in your garage floor and chain it there to using chains attached to the frame. But if they really want your bike they will wait till you start it after unsecuring it ,put a gun to your head, and say "Get off real slow or I'll blow your brains out. So what do you do? Insure it and sleep well at night

Invest in a Xena Alarm Disc Lock. A little pricey but well worth the piece of mind.

reality, nothing is secured from theft. However, there are several things you can do to limit your risks. Park your bike in your apartment. BTW, apartment parking lots have the highest rates of vehicle thefts.

sorry to tell you but if someone wants your bike they will find a way to get it chains can be cut people don't pay attention to alarms so your best bet is the lo jack a locked garage cable lock rotor lock and a alarm then you may deter a thief

well, they have the disc-lok systems, or you could buy a large dog, and tie him to the motorcycle....and don't feed him much.
But, the best way is probably with a hoop/shackle locking system, with a bona-fide padlock on it, a good quality brand.
If your neighborhood's that bad, though, I would consider moving out of the area to someplace better...

You can use a chain and padlock to secure it to a fixed object, or you can park it in a secure locked garage.

take a look at where you are parking it. try to consider a location that is more exposed. get a disk lock and use it every night or a solid lock that can attach to a secure anchor.

I used to use a logging chain and a verry large pad lock no body bothered it. It may also help to belong to a bad a$$ M/C and get the prospect to guard your slead.

Very heavy chain and massive lock. Avoid those Kryptonite locks - easy to defeat with A/C recharger.
