Recently I have posted questions about my foot injury. This happened while I was at work.A co worker accidently rolled over my foot with a cart of heavy folders. She needed to move the cart out of her way but she rolled it over my foot. I have gotten great answers but haven't seen the doctor and it's been a month and a half after the injury. My foot hurts on a scale of 1-10 it's a 10. Should I go to the emergancy room tonight because it really really hurts and I haven't seen a doctor yet?I HAVE NO HEALTH INSURANCE.Any medical oppinions from nurses or doctors or people with this experience.

Go to urgent care it is cheaper than Emergency Room if you feel that you should pay for it. But from the perspective of a former Workers' Compensation person, your company is responsible for the injury - it happened at work - and they will have to pay for the Emergency Room visit and any other treatment that is prescribed for this injury. You will have to submit all paperwork on this to your Human Resources People so that they can get th ball rolling. Also, since you let this go so long, you may need to have any and all witnesses listed so that they know that it did happen at work and they will have to file to Workers' Compensation Insurance. For future reference, when injured at work, seek help immediately and let your supervisor know what happened. So go to ER NOW!

if you can hold out until tomorow contact a doctors office and let them know you have no insurance and ask what they can do to help, some doctors will offer a reduced rate, no guarantees though. the nerves in fingers and toes run along the sides of the bones, it sounds like it was a crushing injury, and you could have some nerve damage, you really need to have your foot looked at. if you have a paper clip handy straighten it out and then bend it in half, making sure the two ends of the paper clip are no further apart than an 1/8 of an inch, then have someone touch your foot on the sides of your toes while you're not watching, if you can feel both points you should be ok, if not you may have crushed some nerves, and nerves can take up to 2 years to heal; not to mention possible tendon and ligament damage. the paper clip test won't tell you anything about tendons or ligaments.

That would have been covered by workmen's comp. It's doubtful, but you might still get coverage for it (it would take a lot of work and paperwork, though).

I think the ER is for real emergencies, like car accidents, kidney stones and heart attacks - you know, stuff that you don't know is happening until the moment it happens - like - like emergencies!

You've had a month and a half, including all this week, to go to a walk-in clinic, but it's now Friday night? Yeah, go if it hurts that bad, but having had to wait with kidney stones while people brought their kid who had a cold sore for a month and just then got around to having someone see her, I know how it sucks when you have a *real* emergency and someone who just never got around to going to the doctor takes up space in the *emergency* room.

No health insurance doesn't mean that they won't see you. Just make sure you tell them it occurred at work and you were hoping it would get better but it's not.

I would not go to the ER tonight, your injury is not new and therefore would not be considered an emergency. You might try stayng off of your foot for a few days, or wrap your foot with an ace bandage, however, since it has been a while since you injured it you may want to see a Dr. Also since this happened at work your employer is probably responsible for your medical bills, under Workmens Compensation.

Well no health insurance is definately a problem. However if you feel that bad I would go and get it checked out. It is better to have a good foot then a bad one. You probably fractured one of the small bones right around the upper portion of the foot. Well good luck and my prayers are with you.

-God Bless-

I'm not doctor, but GO. If it was broken it will have to be reset. Go to the ER tonight. Must be a state hospital that's free!!! Good luck.

Report it at work. It is probably still covered by workman's compensation.
