Install both Ad-aware and Skybot Seek & Destory on your PC. (They are both free downloads from download.com)
Then reboot the computer in Safe Mode. Do this by repeatedly press the F8 key as the reboot starts until you get a menu screen that offers you the option to run in Safe Mode.
When you get in safe mode, the screen will look different then usual. That is normal.
Run both programs while in Safe Mode. Some viruses load themselves on boot up so the programs can not remove them because the files are in use. In Safe Mode, nothing is loaded during bootup, so they can be removed.

If you have Windows XP use system restore to a point before that started then get system mechanic 30 day trial to clean it out. Just go to search and type in system mechanic and iolo is the site you want. You will see a 30 day full operational trial. Good Luck
