I used to date a guy with a nice car.
He would spend so much money on his car, but he lived in a crappy place. His apartment was filthy, roaches everywhere, no furniture, carpet all torn up. He could barely pay for rent, but always had money to pimp out his car.
The jerk cared more about his car than anything else.
I would rather date a guy with a crappy car than be considered second best to a car.

Is the car someone drives the best way to assess character? I think not. I'd like to know from which end of this question you're coming from. Are you the owner of the crappy car or prospective partner? If you're the owner, then whoever is concerned about your car isn't worth wasting your time on. However, if you are the prospect, then you really need to re-evaluate what's important.

I did. I married the person with the really crappy car. He still drives the crappy car. :) I get the good one.

Yes I would. You are dating the person not the car. If you really care for the person you are going out with, it doesn't matter what kind or what shape the car is in.

Absolutely! In fact, I wouldn't date a guy who drove a Stingray, a Hummer, a Cadillac or a Mercedes. In my estimation, the bigger the car, the smaller the penis.
I'd be impressed if you showed up an old beat up car of any kind as long as it's paid for and has seat belts or a Hybrid, regardless of your income level.

That depends on what kind of person he/she was.
You shouldn't let the kind of car a person drive determine who you date, that's just superficial and shallow.
