Outside of Quebec and some parts of New Brunswick, you should be fine with just English. Canada has two official languages--English and French. Almost all of the items sold in Canada have English and French on the labels, to comply with the bilingual law there.
It's true that in Canada there are people who know only French, but most of the population knows English.

If you'll be in Montreal (Quebec), French will help, but everyone knows English as well. Not all of Canada is French speaking...

All my friends in canada speak english and do not know french.

Remember there will be some difference like instead of saying the letter "Z" they say "Zed".....that came from the french

french is only a second language in canada. English is their first language. so you won't have any problem.
