There's definitely more living space on water than on land. More living space means it would take longer for us to overpopulate the planet.

At best, how come we're not amphibians instead?

There are predators on land too but we managed nevertheless.

We developed to breathe oxygen, a large amount of it. He woud need to go up for air every minute if we were to live in the water. Beside, were bipeds, who came from ape-like ancestors. All this would be very hard to adjust to

We evolved onto land was to escape to sea dwelling predators
and soon after this happened the predators begun to grow lungs,which were weak due to the lack of effort,and instead were amphibians like their prey was. So the we evolved deeper onto the continent of Pangaea,far from the amphibious trackers
